1909 के अंत में, जब इटली के गुग्लिएल्मो मार्कोनी और जर्मनी के कार्ल फर्डिनेंड ब्रौन को भौतिकी में Nobel Prize दिया गया, तो पूरी दुनिया को पता चला कि wireless communication system का आविष्कार हो गया है। लेकिन बंगाली scientist जगदीश चंद्र बोस ने radio waves पर मौलिक research मार्कोनी से बहुत पहले ही शुरू कर दी थी। उन्होंने 1895 में दुनिया में पहली बार कृत्रिम microwave सफलतापूर्वक उत्पन्न किया। भौतिकी में क्रांतिकारी discoveries के साथ-साथ उन्होंने sensitivity पर अनुसंधान की शुरुआत की। उन्होंने सबसे पहले experimentally यह सिद्ध किया कि पौधे भी stimulus पर प्रतिक्रिया करते हैं।
