The Grandmother's Recipe
Grandma always said, "Cooking is love that you can taste." The smell coming from her kitchen was heavenly - sweet cookies baking, meat cooking, everything perfectly done.
Her granddaughter Riya was hungry to learn. "Grandma, teach me how you cook so great," she said. Grandma smiled, "Come, I'll show you. But remember, cooking isn't just following recipes."
They started with cookies. "First, we need to mix flour and sugar," Grandma said. "Then pour milk slowly, stir with this spoon. Everything should be mixed neatly."
Riya carefully poured, stirred, mixed. "Now see," Grandma continued, "we need to cut the butter into small pieces, blend it with the mixture."
"The smell is already so sweet!" Riya exclaimed. Grandma laughed, "Wait until we bake them. The heat will make the smell even better."
While cookies were baking, they started making dinner. "For meat, you need to chop onions first," Grandma showed her. "Cut them in neat slices, then stir them in the pan with some heat."
Riya learned to chop, to cut, to slice - all neatly. "Cooking is about precision," Grandma explained. "When you mix, blend well. When you pour, do it slowly. When you stir, be gentle."
The cookies were ready. The smell filled the house. "Let them cool," Grandma said. "Sweet treats need patience."
Dinner was great. The meat was perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful. Riya was proud. "I helped make this!"
"You did great," Grandma said. "Cooking is about love. When you chop, cut, slice - do it with care. When you mix, blend, stir - do it with attention. When you pour, heat, bake - do it with patience. The smell, the taste - they come from your heart."
Years later, when Riya cooked for her own family, she remembered Grandma's every word. She chopped neatly, mixed carefully, stirred gently. Her cookies had the same sweet smell, her meat dishes were great.
"Mom, you cook so well!" her children said. "Teach us!"
Riya smiled, remembering Grandma. "Come," she said. "I'll show you how to make cookies. First, we mix flour and sugar. Then pour milk, stir with spoon. We cut butter, blend it neat. Then we bake them with right heat. The smell will be sweet, the treat will be great. But remember, cooking is more than just chopping, cutting, slicing. It's more than mixing, blending, stirring. It's more than pouring, heating, baking. It's about love, patience, and tradition. When you're hungry and you smell something cooking, when you taste a sweet cookie or a perfectly cooked meat dish - you're tasting generations of love. So learn neatly, cook carefully, and always remember: food made with love tastes great."
Her children learned, just as she had learned from Grandma. The tradition of neat cooking, of great smells, of sweet treats and perfectly cooked meat - it continued. Every time they chopped, cut, sliced, mixed, blended, stirred, poured, heated, or baked, they remembered Grandma's wisdom: Cooking is love you can taste.
