The Boy and the Shy Dog

Rahim was a boy who loved animals. One day, he went to the park to play and saw an old dog sitting alone.

"Dad, look!" Rahim said. "A dog!"

The dog was shy. When Rahim approached, the dog moved away. But the dog's eyes were sad.

"Can we take him home?" Rahim asked.

His dad said, "I don't know. We already have a cat. And this dog is old. How will we manage?"

"Please dad!" Rahim insisted. "He's shy, not bad. Look how lonely he is."

Dad watched. The dog was thin, dirty. "Let me think," he said.

Rahim sat down. He slowly moved closer to the shy dog. "Hey boy," he said softly. "You can stay with us."

The dog looked at him. Soon, it moved a little closer. Rahim smiled. He had a toy in his bag. He threw the toy gently.

The dog watched. Then, slowly, it picked up the toy.

"Dad, look!" Rahim was excited. "He's not bad! He just needs love!"

His dad's heart melted. "Okay," he said. "Yes, we can take him. But you have to care for him."

"Yes! Yes!" Rahim jumped. "I promise dad!"

They took the dog home. Soon, the shy old dog became part of the family. Rahim named him Rocky.

Now, every day after school, Rahim would play with Rocky. The dog was not shy anymore. He was happy.

One day, Rahim's dad said, "You know, when you asked to take that old dog, I thought it was a bad idea. How would we manage? But now I see - you taught me something. That shy old dog just needed a chance."

"Every pet deserves love, dad," Rahim said, hugging Rocky. "Doesn't matter if they're old or shy or not big. They can all be good pets if we let them."

Years later, when Rahim grew big, he always remembered. He became a vet. He helped many shy, old, abandoned pets get new homes.

"That day when I was a kid," he would tell people, "I learned that how we treat the shy ones, the old ones, the scared ones - that defines us. My dad let me take that dog home. Now I help kids and their families get pets. Some dogs are shy, some cats are old, some pets seem bad but they're just scared. Can you give them a chance? Yes? Then take them home. Let them stay. Soon you'll see - they're not bad, they're just waiting for love. Every boy, every kid, every person can make a difference. Just like my dad let me take Rocky that day. Now, how many pets can we help today? Yes, let's get started."

And every day, in his clinic, shy pets would come in. And soon, they'd leave with big smiles on their new owners' faces. Because one boy, one day, showed that old and shy doesn't mean bad. It just means they need someone to say yes.
