Breaking Barriers in Education
Fariha was a principal of an elementary school where harassment and discrimination was a continuing problem. She knew that integration and equal orientation must inevitably be brought for everyone. The difference within the institution was increasing. Repeatedly, she had appealed to the legislature for new laws that would accordingly protect all students. Some people were trying to maintain the status quo through manipulation, but Fariha challenged their expression of prejudice. She called a preliminary meeting where teachers and parents respectively shared their concerns. "Without continuous effort, we cannot succeed," she said. She coordinated a program where students from all backgrounds would study together and get equivalent opportunities. Through integration, she proved that differences can actually be strength. The legislature passed new guidelines and accordingly the school updated their policies. Strict measures were taken to stop harassment. As a result of Fariha's continuous and continuing dedication, the elementary education system inevitably transformed.
