バングラデシュには海の魚の資源に関する正確なestimationがなく、どれだけsustainableな漁業ができるかというlimitationも決まっていません。これは、長期間にわたり大規模な調査と研究が中断されていたためです。2016年に新しい船R.V. Meenssandhaniをprocurementした後、assessmentが再開されました。

この調査は、海の10〜200メートルの深さの大陸棚地域で行われています。

過去3年間のデータを分析した後、marine魚に関する報告書が政府の上級当局に送られました。漁業局のMarine Fisheries Survey Management Unitの主任科学官Md. Sharif Uddin氏は、「2000年以降、我々の船舶を用いた研究は完全に停止していました。バングラデシュのMarine Fisheries Capacity Building projectを通じて再びinitiatedされました」と述べました。
